PAK vs NZ: “He Was Telling Me To Take Singles And Doubles…” – Fakhar Zaman Outlines Babar Azam’s Clever Strategy To Disturb NZ’s Plans

Fakhar Zaman Outlines Babar Azam's Clever Strategy To Disturb NZ’s Plans

Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman recently praised Babar Azam’s astute tactics during the second One-Day International against New Zealand. Azam advised Zaman to concentrate on singles and doubles rather than huge strokes in order to derail New Zealand’s objectives.

Zaman’s unbeaten century propels Pakistan to a seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second One-Day International (ODI) on Saturday evening at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. This was Fakhar Zaman’s third consecutive century in the 50-over format, all of which came against New Zealand this year.

Fakhar claimed in the post-game interview that Babar had told him to concentrate on playing a lengthy inning while he would take the chances. This tactic was devised by Pakistan’s captain because he believed that if Fakhar remained at the crease, New Zealand would be unable to bowl their left-arm spinner. The bowling side would be under pressure, and their preparations would be disturbed.

“Babar was telling me to take singles and doubles and to focus on playing long innings. He said if risks are needed, he’ll take them, because if I stayed there, they wouldn’t be able to bowl the left-arm spinner, and we would disrupt their plans,” Fakhar Zaman said in a post-match interview.

“Everyone knows what a big batsman Babar is. His mindset is very different from others – he never comes under pressure, even if the required rate is rising. He kept telling me to stay calm, and that we’ll chase the runs easily,” Fakhar Zaman added.
