Archer returned to the England squad in January for the first time in 22 months after a protracted hiatus due to elbow and back injuries.

The 28-year-old bowler is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL 2023. According to The Telegraph, Archer travelled to Belgium for minor surgery on his right elbow during a three-week break from the squad.

Jofra Archer, on the other hand, responded angrily to the claim on Twitter, writing: “Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy. Whoever the reporter is shame on you, an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem.”

“Jofra Archer would be a significant loss” – Andrew Strauss

Andrew Strauss, a former England captain, has expressed concern about Jofra Archer’s fitness ahead of the 2023 Ashes. Strauss told Sky Sports News that Jofra Archer’s reoccurring elbow problem will be a source of concern for Ben Stokes’ England.

“It has to be a concern, Without knowing the details of it, it’s obviously hard to speculate. That elbow has been troublesome for a long period now, with a number of different injuries with it. It’s easy to be over-cautious, and perhaps that’s what is happening now, but he would be a significant loss if he wasn’t there for the Ashes” Andrew Strauss said.

England has struggled to find a reliable fast-bowling partner for Mark Wood in Jofra Archer’s absence.
